The Ministry of Planning clarified the social, residential and development census data that it completed in the middle of this month.
Ministry spokesman Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi said in a press statement, “The Ministry conducted the experimental census with the aim of producing data related to testing the various devices, activities, and procedures related to the census.”
He added, “The census included (45,277) families in 71,000 buildings in 86 localities throughout Iraq, and the percentage of males was 50.1% and females was 49.9%. It also showed that 91% of families headed by males compared to 9% headed by females, and that 71% of Housing is owned and 17% is rented.”
Al-Hindawi added, “The development indicators expected from the general census after its completion next November are many and important in all the characteristics of life that the census will cover, and include the areas of health, education, housing, work, services, and many others, and the picture that the census will draw will clearly indicate the development gaps that exist throughout Iraq.” Therefore, this notation helps planners and policy makers develop long-term development plans to address all the gaps that exist in the Iraqi reality.
