    Member of the Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee, Walid Al-Sahlani, called on Monday on the government and the political forces that make the decision to form a specialized committee of members who have scientific and technical characteristics that would develop a new vision and strategy for the reality of electricity, to be managed from outside the ministry and even outside parliament.
    Al-Sahlani said, "The electricity crisis has continued for many years without the previous and current governments finding any solutions for it, and every year we face popular protests in all governorates, and therefore a realistic and real solution must be found in order to limit its continuation at least through the concerted and mobilized efforts of everyone." 
    He added, "The electricity file currently needs a new vision and strategy through activities carried out by the state in general, and the political forces that make the decision must assume full responsibility before the Iraqi people to address the intractable crisis, by taking a decision to form a specialized committee of members who have scientific and technical characteristics that will develop a new vision and strategy for the reality of electricity, to be managed from outside the ministry and even outside parliament, and to be granted great and broad powers."
    He explained, "The mistakes that continued over the past two decades regarding the electricity crisis, we are held accountable for the mistakes and not for the delay, as it represents a negative aspect, such as delaying the completion of stations at specific times due to routine and requests for bank financial guarantees and other things, for example, but not limited to, the delay in installing the Khairat station, which produces 2800 megawatts."
