    Baghdad Today - Kirkuk
The leader of the Coordination Framework, Muhammad Al-Bayati, warned, today, Wednesday (July 17, 2024), of Kirkuk entering a constitutional vacuum if the political crisis continues after July 25.
Al-Bayati said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "After holding the first session of the Kirkuk Council, they must adhere to the timetables for voting on the Council President and his deputy, and then the rest of the positions, in order to complete the birth of the local government."
He added, "After July 25, if the Kirkuk Council President is not elected, we will enter a legal and constitutional vacuum," noting that the matter will be more complicated.
Al-Bayati explained that "if the political forces in the Kirkuk Council do not succeed in creating a consensus that ends the political deadlock, we will go to cancel the election results and call for new elections," stressing that "the legal paths in this direction will be within the jurisdiction of the parliament and the Federal Court."
He added, "Any delay in settling the entitlements will not serve any political party, and Kirkuk needs the birth of a government that serves all its components without excluding or marginalizing any component."
Kirkuk Provincial Council held its first session last Thursday (July 11, 2024) and decided to keep it open to complete its dialogues.
The dispute that erupted in the first session of the Kirkuk Council explains the absence of any real agreement, according to what Al-Sudani announced, and that the political crisis "has not been resolved", and Al-Sudani's influence was limited to pushing the political forces to hold the session only, without deciding what would happen after it.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani called on the members who won the Kirkuk Council membership to hold the first session of the Council, headed by the oldest member, pointing to resolving the governorate crisis and establishing the “Kirkuk Administration Coalition.”
