The 17th session of the DBX International Exhibition was opened in Sulaymaniyah, in the presence of the head of the local government, Haval Abu Bakr, and a number of government officials.
The exhibition is held at the International Exhibition Center in the “Tasluja” area, and witnesses the participation of more than 100 local and international companies from various sectors.
Hassan Rahim, the supervisor of the exhibition, said in a press statement: “The exhibition, which was held by Iraq Progress Company and supervised by the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sulaymaniyah Local Government, includes companies from the sectors of automobiles, industry, food, cleaning, medicine, education, scientific research and trade. These companies display their latest products and innovations to the public, businessmen and industrialists, which provides an opportunity to communicate and build economic partnerships.”
He added that “the exhibition also includes a number of prominent local companies, in addition to international companies displaying their global products through their partners in the Kurdistan Region, which enhances trade exchange between various parties.”
The exhibition was attended by a number of government officials, a number of traders and representatives of countries.
Rahim pointed out that “the exhibition was launched with the participation of more than 100 local and foreign companies, with foreign companies representing about 40% and local companies representing 60%, and most of the local companies are representatives of foreign companies.”
The exhibition will continue from September 18 to 23, and will receive visitors daily from 11 am to 6 pm.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Governor of Sulaymaniyah, Haval Abu Bakr, announced during a press conference that “the city of Sulaymaniyah ranked first in Iraq in terms of the number of investment and economic projects.”
He stressed during his participation in the activities of the 17th International Exhibition in Sulaymaniyah that “the city is distinguished by its possession of six international trade gates, in addition to the largest air freight network (cargo) linking Southeast Asia to Europe.”
Abu Bakr pointed out that “this event aims to highlight local products and enhance investment and employment opportunities in various areas of the city, and he expressed his great confidence in the quality of local products in Kurdistan and Iraq, stressing that Sulaymaniyah has witnessed remarkable development in this field.”
The governor added that “there are 12 international trade gateways in federal Iraq, six of which are located within the borders of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, making the region an important commercial center. The movement of goods from the Bashmakh crossing to the Abbas Port in southern Iran, which is the shortest land route of 600 kilometers, is a key factor in strengthening the local economy.”
Abu Bakr highlighted the importance of Sulaymaniyah Airport, which is the closest link between Southeast Asia and Europe, as it contains the fastest and largest air freight lines in Iraq and the region. He
also pointed out that the city has the best air freight network in Iraq, which contributes to supporting the economic movement.
Abu Bakr stressed that Sulaymaniyah has led Iraq in the field of investment projects over the past two years, noting that this achievement reflects the efforts of citizens and local and international companies. He also called for strengthening the sustainable economy and combating reliance on the rentier economy.
