Industry: Great government interest in moving the economic wheel

The Ministry of Industry is heading towards referring a number of industrial cities for investment soon, especially after announcing them at the International Industry Conference, confirming the existence of great government interest in moving the economic wheel.
The Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Cities Authority at the Ministry, Riyadh Jassim Kazim, told Al-Sabah: There is great government interest in moving the economic wheel in the country and developing this aspect, especially the industrial cities.
He added that the ministry has started establishing industrial cities that have gained many positive aspects, including creating a safe environment with the aim of attracting local, Arab and foreign investors, reducing unemployment by creating diverse job opportunities in large numbers, as well as developing the national economy by establishing new factories.
Kazem explained that the Authority announced, through the recently concluded International Conference on Industry and Mining, the referral of a number of industrial cities for investment purposes, including the joint economic city between Iraq and Jordan, for which all necessary preparations have been completed to refer it as an investment opportunity between the two sides.
He added that the other industrial city that was announced for investment is located in Dhi Qar with an area of 1,800 dunums, in addition to the industrial city in Basra with an area of 174 dunums.
He pointed out that the Authority will receive offers from companies wishing to invest in the cities, as the Ministry of Industry is keen to attract solid companies, whether foreign or local.
Kazem explained that the purpose of establishing advanced, systematic industrial complexes lies in supporting the private sector and activating its role in developing the industrial sector, especially cities that specialize in modern industries and attracting workers.
