Baghdad Today - Baghdad

Political researcher Muhammad Ali Al-Hakim confirmed today, Saturday (October 26, 2024), that the American withdrawal from Iraq after the recent events in the region has become impossible.

Al-Hakim said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the United States of America, from the beginning, does not want any real military withdrawal from Iraq. It only wants to change the address of its presence, but after the recent events in the region, this matter has become impossible. The Americans will work to stay longer until they are able to protect Israel through this presence."

He explained that "the Americans realized very well after the war in Lebanon and Gaza that the Iraqi armed factions pose a real threat to Israel after those factions were able to strike targets deep inside Israel, and for this reason they want to remain in Iraq in order to maintain control over its airspace and to remain fully monitoring the movements of the factions."

It is noteworthy that the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee had previously warned against the United States of America exploiting the escalation in the region in order to keep its forces in Iraq for a longer period .

The debate over the US withdrawal from Iraq has flared up again in the past few weeks, coinciding with the return of strikes and targeting of bases housing US forces in Iraq and Syria.
