The Pharmacists Syndicate attributed the repeated attacks on doctors to the failure to implement the law to protect them.
The official spokesman for the Pharmacists Syndicate, Dr. Muhammad Sherkhan, said in a statement to "Al-Sabah": The segment of doctors in general, and pharmacists among them in particular, is subjected to repeated attacks, whether by armed robbery or murder for various reasons, referring to the government's weakness in applying laws against the aggressor, stressing that the attacks are prolonged. This category even within government institutions.
He added that there is another important reason, which is the failure to pass the Doctors Protection Law, as it includes several paragraphs that protect this group from attacks after imposing deterrent penalties for the perpetrators, pointing out that this group, with all its humanitarian service, has previously suffered from displacement as a result of the attacks and is still suffering. It is better to protect them by adopting the law.
Sherkhan stressed the need for pharmacists to have a similar law to protect them or include them in the same law as doctors, stressing that they are the most vulnerable group in the medical group to attacks because they work in the middle of the street among people without the protection of government institutions, in addition to their long working hours, especially since there are sentinel pharmacies that work 24 hours a day. hour per day.
He ruled out that the increase in drug prices was one of the reasons for these attacks or the recent increase in burglaries against pharmacies, noting that all materials and commodities prices have risen as a result of the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, whose level has decreased by 30 percent.
