In the run-up to the Iraq war, promised U.S. President George W. Bush, saying "the Iraqi people that he is certain that the United States is committed to helping build a better future."
Ten years later, his successor, Barack Obama refers to the United States has fulfilled its obligation in the deal; In the tenth anniversary of the U.S. invasion, Obama praised U.S. forces insisted they provided to the Iraqi people "a chance to formulate his future after the difficult years long."
But what happened "for a better future" for many Iraqis who have died as a result of the U.S. invasion?
Where can we find "a better future" for the girl at the age of nine killed in an air strike hit the market victory in Baghdad on March 28, 2003? Or second-year-old boy killed by car bomb in a market in Baghdad's Sadr City on July 1, 2006? Or to the daughter of David Nuri beheaded in Kirkuk on April 21, 2007? What happened to their chances of "Shaping the future"?
According to a recent report by the project costs of the war at Brown University, the number of Iraqi civilian deaths reached 123 - 134 thousand as a direct result of the violence of war since March 2003. In fact, while U.S. troops left Iraq in 2011, and made war supporters a false history of success resulting from the strategy sustain the momentum provided by General Petraeus in 2007, the brutal legacy of the war is still alive in the country.
In the past year counted a Achdok and counting the dead in Iraq 4570 deaths among Iraqi civilians as a result of violence, which is a slight increase on the rate of mortality in 2011. On the day of Obama's speech on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the invasion, there have been several car bombs and attacks have killed hundreds of people and wounded several others in the capital Baghdad alone.
This is in addition to the preparation of the many who were injured during the past decade, including nearly 2.8 million Iraqis who are still refugees outside Iraq or displaced inside. So the words of both presidents remain hollow indeed.
