Giants Go For Season Sweep Against Division Leading Cowboys

The 110th meeting between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys comes at a pivotal time in the season.
Big Blue enters this matchup with an 8-4 record. They currently sit as the first Wild Card team in the NFC Playoffs. The Giants need to win at least two of their remaining four games to hold on to that spot. A victory over the Cowboys will go a long way towards to achieving that goal.
The Giants seek their third consecutive victory over the Cowboys and their first season sweep since the 2011 season.

The 11-1 Cowboys have the best record in the NFL. With a victory over the Giants, they will capture the NFC East and take another step toward securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The one blemish on the Cowboys’ 2016 resume is a 20-19 opening day loss to the Giants at AT&T Stadium.
Despite their record, the Giants have been criticized for winning games against inferior competition. The criticism got louder after last week’s 24-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Giants can silence some of the critics (at least for this week) if they can defeat the NFL’s hottest team in a nationally televised home game.
Odell Beckham Jr. considers the Cowboys game a playoff game. Rashad Jennings thinks of the Giants’ final four games as playoff games.
“At stake? There are four games left. Everything is at stake,” Jennings said. “The season is every single week now. We need to win this game.”
The Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons sit right behind the Giants for playoff positioning.
The Giants face the NFC North leading Detroit Lions next week in their final home game. Then they travel to Lincoln Financial Field for a Thursday night showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles before ending the season at the Washington Redskins on New Years’ Day.
First, the Giants must defeat the Cowboys. The importance of this game is not lost on the team or their coach.
“We have a big game, a big opportunity for us in the division,” head coach Ben McAdoo said. “It will be a highly competitive game an opportunity for us to get a win.”
