The New Islanders placed Jaroslav Halak on waivers today and I'd like to see somebody like that in the teal and black this season.

A veteran of his caliber would be ideal for the Sharks - contract status and cap room aside.

If San Jose is planning on making another run toward the Stanley Cup they will need the services of a healthy and fresh Martin Jones.

Veteran netminders are a hot commodity in and around the NHL, but the Sharks have to be looking at all options. They are not likely to do much at the deadline this season but looking to aquire the serves of an NHL vet should be in the cards for Doug Wilson again.

Aaron Dell has been a decent backup to Martin Jones, but Jones benefited greatly from having a veteran presence to spell him down the stretch once the Sharks acquired James Reimer at the deadline last season.

One could argue the extra rest was a major factor in Jones' play throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Despite my praise of him, Jones has been more inconsistent this season than last and I feel he could use the added rest even more in the second half of the season.

Reimer was floundering in Toronto before having some success in San Jose. Why can't there be another Reimer wasting away somewhere else?

What say you? Am I crazy or is there some merit to my madness?

(Edit:) I thought Halak was in the final year of his deal. At $4.5 million he is useless.
