The statement added that the PUK "has not yet taken the necessary legal procedures to register the candidate of the Presidency of the Republic in anticipation of the consolidation of positions, but what the KDP did not agree with the unity of the situation," adding that the Union "will proceed in the legal procedures for the election of the President of the Republic to his candidate And to form the next government in Baghdad. "
The statement expressed "surprise" that "the Kurdistan Democratic Party did not show readiness for joint action," adding that the National Union "remains insistent on joint action and unify the positions of the Kurdish parties in the best interests of our people."
"The past events have shown that individual action has not been in the best interest of our people," the statement concluded.
It is noteworthy that the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani, arrived earlier in the day to the capital Baghdad, to discuss the formation of the next government and the election of the President of the Republic.
