, a member of the State of Law coalition, Kata' al-Rikabi, confirmed, on Saturday, that political pressures lead to more than forcing the conservatives to resign.
Al-Rikabi said in an interview with "Mawazine News", that "what happened to Najaf Governor Louay al-Yasiri and before him, Dhi Qar Governor Ahmed al-Khafaji, is forcing him to submit his resignation," warning that he might "force the remaining governors to submit their resignations."
He added, "The government's policies are responsible for what is happening in all governorates, noting that one of the results of this policy is that the resigning governors' deputies take over the tasks of managing the provinces, with complete ignorance of what the situation will lead to in other provinces."
Al-Rikabi added that "there has become a concern among all the governors that a certain group of demonstrators will leave and force them to resign, because there are hidden hands behind these operations," stressing that "the governors' resignation comes out of a desire to preserve Iraqi blood and for fear of any practice that might cause the blood of any citizen to be wasted.
