Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Saturday, that his government is determined to support the business sector for women.
The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a press statement, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received, today, Saturday, a group of Iraqi businesswomen."
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed, “The government’s determination to support the business sector for women, and that women have endured important turning points in the modern history of Iraq, and represented the entire Iraqi society as it passed through the harshest and unstable circumstances, to bring the family together and shoulder the family’s burdens,” indicating that women emerged to participate. Politics has gone beyond the feminist quota and has a distinct presence, which is normal in a country like Iraq that has an honorable history of women’s participation in public life, and we have distinguished academics, writers, poets, and women in various fields and professions.”
He stated, “The economic reforms and effective steps in the financial and banking aspect have given exceptional importance to the issue of supporting the business sector for women and providing job opportunities for Iraqi women in the private sector,” stressing, “The business environment in Iraq was not easy, and it suffers from bureaucracy and corruption, but These challenges will not deter the approach determined to change this reality, and unprecedented decisions have been issued to support the private sector, especially since society faces the problem of unemployment among women at a greater rate than among men.”
He stressed that “securing job opportunities for women depends largely on developing the community of businesswomen and providing it with the necessary facilities,” stressing that the Supreme Council for Women will hold its first meeting soon, along with the Private Sector Development Council, which will allocate an important part of its activities to women, stressing that at the time He stressed that the prosperity of the private sector, and the fight against corruption and red tape in state departments, will pave the way for self-employment and the creation of renewed opportunities in the Iraqi market, for women and men, through sustainable development on solid foundations of financial, economic and banking reform.
The Prime Minister listened to the interventions of businesswomen, which included the most prominent obstacles facing their work, in addition to their proposals and diverse activities in the field of business.
