A "Can't Lose" Game for Lightning

I have to admit that I am getting quite sick of describing upcoming Lightning games as "must wins" even though it is true. With that being said, I would like to categorize tonight's contest at home against the Arizona Coyotes as a "can't lose".

Yes, both phrases essentially mean the same thing. However, I find the latter to be more appropriate.

After an extended streak of fantastic hockey, Tampa Bay currently finds themselves on a two-game losing streak. With a Maple Leafs victory over the Bruins last night, the Bolts are now four points behind Toronto for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with the Islanders also in their way. Another defeat just isn't an option if the Lightning want to keep their playoff hopes alive. Luckily, there nothing like playing a team such as the Coyotes to help get back to their winning ways.

Thanks to a disgustingly horrible Colorado Avalanche team, Arizona is the second-worst team in the NHL with 61 points in 72 games. They have only won a measly ten games away from home which I guess isn't horrible when you only have 26 total victories on the season.

Even with the injuries Tampa Bay is suffering, there are no excuses for the Lightning to not come away victorious tonight. There is no such thing as a guaranteed victory in the NHL but the Bolts cannot afford to suffer defeat at the hands of the Coyotes tonight. Losing three in a row can do damage to any team's mental state but falling to a bottom-feeder of the league could really hurt Tampa Bay's playoff chances.

Puck drop for tonight's contest is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
