Arbil/ Iraq TradeLink: Kurdish Premier Njirvan Barzani confirmed that the independence

referendum will be conducted this year, stressing that the Kurdish region is ready to open a military base here.

"If the United States needs a military base in Kurdistan, the Kurdish leadership welcomes that", he added.

In an interview with the US Philadelphia Enquirer he pointed that "the referendum is important so that the world will know the choice of the Kurdish people, either independence or remaining with Iraq".

He added that Arbil wants to "solve its problems with Baghdad through dialogue and to be separated through understanding", declaring that the talks with Baghdad "reached to nowhere".

On the situation in Iraq, he pointed that "Iraq will not return to its previous past before Da'ish (ISIS) entry into the country".

"If the USA wants a unified Iraq, this state does not exist . If it wants stability, it should deal with the Kurdish question in the first place", he confirmed.
