     Kurdish politician Muhammad Hama Hassan confirmed on Wednesday that the Kurdistan Democratic Party, headed by Masoud Barzani, has lost 90% of its popularity in Diyala.

    Hassan said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The results of the last December 18 elections were a huge surprise to all the leaders of Barzani’s party in Diyala, especially since the total number of votes he received was less than the winning candidate on the lists, in a way that reflects the party’s loss of 90% of the votes.” Its popular bases compared to previous sessions.”
    He added, "The elections showed that Barzani's party lost strongly, not only in Diyala, which indicates the existence of cumulative mistakes that prompted many to change the compass of their political support in other directions."
    He pointed out that "the Diyala Council will be devoid of a representative of Barzani's party for the first time after 2005, a message about a rift that may be greater in the coming sessions and include more provinces, including within the region."
