Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that the Arab summit witnessed an unprecedented presence of Arab leaders, describing the preparatory meeting of the Arab foreign ministers as positive.
Safadi said in a press conference on Monday evening at the Media Center at the Dead Sea that the recommendations of the Permanent Representatives, which are more than 17 recommendations, were agreed upon and raised to the agenda of the meeting of Arab leaders to be held on Wednesday.
He pointed out that one of the draft resolutions issued is the activation of the Arab peace initiative and the commitment of the Arab countries, and the adoption of the peace map to ensure a two-state solution on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine.
The Jordanian minister stressed that the summit will emphasize the terms of peace between the Palestinians and Israel based on the "two-state solution."
Safadi also said that the summit will emphasize the need for joint Arab action to deal with all crises, adding that the summit will seek to establish a genuine institutional partnership between the Arab countries.
The meetings of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Arab foreign ministers began Monday in the Dead Sea area in the presence of the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs received the chairmanship of the meetings of his Mauritanian counterpart Islak Ould Ahmed Izid Bey.
