A consultative meeting between a number of Arab foreign ministers in New York
The foreign ministers of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan held a consultative meeting in New York to activate the joint Arab role in dealing with various crises in the region.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahraini Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri, Egyptian Foreign Minister, And Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
During the meeting, the ministers heard a brief from the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General to Syria, Stephane de Mistura, on the situation in Syria.
Foreign ministers decided to continue consultations as needed, the statement said.
The work of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly took place last Tuesday at the headquarters of the International Organization in New York City.
The current session focuses on development issues, the maintenance of international peace and security, the fight against terrorism and human rights.
