America's goals of imposing new sanctions on Russia

    28/03/2017

After the arrival of "Donald Trump" to the presidency in the White House, many thought that Washington and Moscow relations will take another turn different from what was in the era of former President "Barack Obama."
What reinforced this belief is Trump's statements during his election campaign in which he confirmed that he would seek to strengthen ties with Russia and to raise the level of cooperation with them, especially with regard to the fight against "terrorism", especially in Syria.

Despite more than two months after assuming his duties Trump did in any of his promises about Russia, not only this; it proceeded his administration to impose new sanctions on Moscow by adding eight companies and institutions Russian working in the military sector, without mentioning the nature of the charges against these companies, but indicated that they relate to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction law.

The longer the sanctions company, "Ross Ooborun Export" exporting Russian weapons, and the company "Avia Export", and "design office industry machines," the company "basalt", the Institute Ulyanovskaya Civil Aviation, and the Center for Aural training for Civil Aviation, the Academy of Zhukovsky and Gagarin warplanes, factory maintenance No. 150 aircraft.

A spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, "Maria Zakharova" stressed that these sanctions are totally inconsistent with assurances that Washington's fight "Daesh" and other terrorist groups represent a priority for them.

She Zakharova said sanctions will not cause major problems for Russia, but it confirms that Americans are marching again behind those people who work on the gradual destruction of the Russian - American cooperation.
Observers believe that the US sanctions against Russia aimed at achieving four key objectives that can be referred to as follows:

First: tazir American power in the world
In his first speech on the twentieth of January / December last second sought "Donald Trump" to revive the spirit of the American domination of the world by emphasizing the need to reduce reliance on cooperation with international institutions including the United Nations, in order to devote unilateralism adopted by Washington in dealing with other countries in various political, military and economic fields.

The new US sanctions come in this framework, according to Moscow's belief, which was confirmed by the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council "Konstantin Kosachyov" when he pointed out that Washington is seeking to show the superiority of American law on international law and to narrow the work of Russian companies that compete with US markets global, describing recent sanctions against Washington, as in line with former US President Barack Obama's administration policy toward Moscow.

    Second: Warning Russian officials
It seems that Trump and his advisers and his aides never stop sending political messages that the US administration does not intend to implement Trump's comments received during the election race on the need to improve relations with Russia, which was confirmed by the Chairman of the Russian State Duma International Affairs "Leonid Slutsky" by saying that the White House directed by imposing sanctions, and a clear signal to Moscow reinforce this sense.

In the same context, US Senator "Ben Cardin" pointed out that the Congress will work toward continuing pressure on Russia, expressing his hope that Trump understands that he can not deal with Russia in the "normal regime", as he put it.

Third: the weakening of Moscow's ability to export arms
Many observers believe that the new US sanctions against Russia, which affected the company, "Ross Ooborun Export" exporting weapons, the Academy of Zhukovsky and Gagarin warplanes, factory aircraft No. 150 is aimed primarily at reducing Moscow's ability to export arms to overseas maintenance, in order to increase America's share in the sale of arms to the various countries of the world markets.

Observers also believe that "Rex Tillerson" appointment as US Secretary of State explains in fact the economic tendency to manage Trump, considering that Tillerson served as chairman of the company "ExxonMobil" oil management, which is the fifth-largest US company in terms of market value.

Trying to weaken Russia's position in Ukraine
US-Russian relations have soured sharply in the past few years, especially after the annexation of Russia Crimea into its territory in March / March 2014 began to economic sanctions heaped on Russia from many countries of the world such as Europe, America, Canada and Japan.

In December / December 2014 the US Congress passed the "Freedom Support in Ukraine" law, which imposes new sanctions on Russian arms companies and investors in oil projects that rely on sophisticated technology.
Earlier, US State Department confirmed the words of its spokesman, "Mark Toner" that sanctions against Moscow will remain that the recent return of the Crimea to Ukraine List. "The US State Department said that it" does not recognize the "referendum conducted in Crimea in March 2014, which was based on to Moscow to announce its annexation of the peninsula.

After about three years of US sanctions imposed on Russia, many observers believe that these sanctions have not achieved their political objectives. Economically, many Western officials opines that the European Union is most affected by these sanctions party, because the Union is the first trade partner of Russia, as some statistics indicate that the total trade between the EU and Russia amounted to about 270 billion euros in 2012, which is much higher than the level of trade between America and Russia.

There are those who believe that Western sanctions are not detrimental to the capabilities of the Russian economy directly in the foreseeable future, which is not a great pressure on Moscow, forcing her to give up their positions, both with regard to the Crimean peninsula or other issues, especially its attitude towards Syria.
