South Korea and the United States have agreed to an early deployment of the defense system, while Vice President Mike Bens warned North Korea of the missile attack on Syria.
"We have agreed to enhance the readiness of the South Korean-US alliance to match the threats posed by North Korea through the rapid deployment of Thad," South Korean Prime Minister Huang Kyu-Ahn said Monday.
Huang, who is also the country's acting president, announced an agreement to deploy the US anti-missile shield system at a joint press conference with Pens, who is visiting South Korea as part of an Asian tour.
Pens, for his part, warned North Korea that the United States and South Korea would not tolerate any new nuclear or missile test conducted by Pyongyang, saying that the US attack this month on the base of the Syrian regime, showed the United States.
Bens earlier visited the demilitarized zone between the two Koreas and said from the border village of Panmunjom that the United States does not rule out any option to address the problem of North Korea's ballistic and nuclear programs.
