A WHO document showed a high incidence of cholera in Yemen to 35217 suspected cases since April 27 when the disease began to spread.
The figure represents a 50 percent increase in reported cases compared with figures announced by WHO's Nivio Zagaria in Yemen last Friday when he said 23425 people had been infected with cholera since April 27.
According to a WHO epidemiological bulletin covering the period until May 22, 261 special deaths were reported in the western provinces of Yemen.
The number of deaths rises by 100 from Friday when Zagaria announced 242 deaths.
The epidemic appeared in October and increased until December when it receded but was not fully controlled and the incidence increased again in April under the weight of the collapse of the economy and the health system.
The total number of cases reported since December is 61,000, the bulletin said. Zagaria said last week that the total number could reach 300,000 in the next six months
