Shafaq News / Iraqi Reform department affiliated to Ministry of Justice handed over the task of the external monitoring and protection of Nasiriyah Central Prison to the Ministry of the Interior / Federal Police.
The Ministry of Justice has taken the same procedure in Karkh central prison earlier
“The ministry handed over the towers , the main gates , external and confrontation checkpoints in the central prison of Nasiriyah to Dhi -Qar Brigade / federal police , one of the formations and the Ministry of Interior,” the spokesman of the Ministry of Justice , Haidar al - Saadi said in a statement received by “Shafaq News”.
Al-Saadi pointed out that these measures were in force earlier in some prisons, but the Ministry of Justice plans to hand over the task of monitoring and protecting Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Interior in all prisons, respectively, while the task of reform guards will be limited on social workers and employees of the Ministry of Justice on administrative and legal matters inside prisons
Saadi explained that the endorsement of these actions was based on the decisions of the commander in chief of the armed forces and the crisis cell that was formed on the background of recent security breach in Taji and central Baghdadprisons
The organization of the "state of Iraq and al-Sham” linked to al - Qaeda has adopted a violent attack on the prisons that led to smuggle hundreds of elements of the organization from Abu Ghraib prison , but Iraqi authorities said that they had arrested dozens of fugitives
Intelligence information indicated that 40 percent of the fleeing prisoners are from the strict al-Qaeda elements, who were held by U.S. forces in Bucca detention facilities in Basra, Abu Ghraib and Cropper Camp at Baghdad airport then handed over to the Iraqi authorities later
The information also showed that the fugitives from Abu Ghraib prison headed to Amiriya neighborhood west of Baghdad , Samarra district , Ibrahim bin Ali area and then to Samarra , as well as the others went to Fallujah and Ramadi, which are areas located in the western side of Iraq
