UAE: Qatar is the one who carried out the September attacks

Foreign Policy magazine published a report by author Bethany Allen Ibrahimian, commenting on the announcement of the channel linked to the ruling family in Abu Dhabi, Sky News, for a documentary film linking Qatar to the September attacks, pointing out that it is a new face of strangeness.

"When you think the Gulf crisis can not get any stranger, a television channel linked to the ruling family in Abu Dhabi announces a documentary linking Qatar to the September terrorist attacks," says Ibrahimian.

"The Arabic Sky News, which has a part of it, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will broadcast a documentary on Wednesday under the title (Qatar ... the road to Manhattan) and will focus on the visit of the mastermind of the attacks Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to Qatar in 1996, (Qatar's long-term support, including financial support, and protection to achieve its ambitions and plans), Gulf News reported.

The report, translated by "Arab21", indicates that this documentary comes amid a continuing diplomatic crisis in the Gulf. At the beginning of June, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain imposed a blockade on Qatar until the latter responds to their demands.

Qatar has responded to the UAE accusations of financing terrorism, saying it is the financier and not the Doha, as quoted by Qatar's Ambassador to Washington Sheikh Mishaal bin Hamad Al-Thani in the Wall Street Journal. "The UAE was mentioned in the report, The commission of inquiry into the 9/11 attacks, and its role in laundering terrorist funds. "

Ibrahimian says reports of a senior Qatari minister protecting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed from the CIA are known, not new.

The report states that there were no Qatari perpetrators of 9/11 attacks, including two Emirati, 15 Saudi, Egyptian and Lebanese. Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, noting that the United States is currently holding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Guantanamo.

The magazine says that Qatar launched an international public relations campaign in response to the blockade in an attempt to gain support against three larger countries, including pressure in Washington DC, and focused on human rights violations caused by the blockade, pointing out that Saudi Arabia has rented better PR firms in Washington.

According to the author, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited the region in an attempt to calm the atmosphere and resolve the problem. On July 10, the secretary of state signed a memorandum of security cooperation with the Qatari government to counter the financing of terrorism.

Foreign Policy concludes its report by pointing out that in the State Department's Annual Report on Terrorism in the World last week, it revealed Qatar's cooperation with international efforts to combat and finance terrorism and that the country has made good efforts to stop the informal system within its borders to fund extremist groups.
