Saudi Arabia asks the American judiciary to reject 25 cases against it over the September 11 attacks

    10:02 - 02/08/2017

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday asked a US judge to reject 25 lawsuits alleging she helped plot the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and demanded compensation for the victims.

"Saudi Arabia confirmed in documents submitted to the US Criminal Court in Manhattan that the plaintiffs can not prove that the Kingdom or any of its charitable organizations is responsible for the attacks. "It also deserves sovereign immunity."

The Saudi government has consistently denied any responsibility for al Qaeda attacks on hijacked planes that crashed at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon outside Washington and a field in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks.

Some 2,500 families, more than 20,000 people and businesses and insurance companies are demanding billions of dollars from Saudi Arabia
