The Committee of "Alq Baghdad" ends the development of new designs for the squares of the capital

     Baghdad / Amer Muayad

The Association of Iraqi Banks on Sunday extended the period of tender for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of yards in the capital Baghdad to one week, while the Municipality of Baghdad announced the start of work soon and the completion of the designs of some squares.

The Executive Director of the Association of Iraqi banks Ali Tariq said in a statement to the "range", "work is continuing in the issue of reconstruction of a number of squares of the capital Baghdad to suit them."
"The meetings have been going on for a while and a week ago, there was an expanded meeting between the technical committees and the participating companies, as well as the committees formed by the project."
He pointed out that "the meeting was held in the presence of representatives of banks, and was discussed a lot of things, where the proposals were submitted in writing for the purpose of work by the executors."
Tariq said that "the proposal is different from the previous and was approved is only extending the period of tender for one week only, which is not difficult."
For his part, a spokesman for the secretariat of Baghdad, Hakim Abdul-Zahra said in a statement to the "range," that "things are completed and will begin work in the actual days in the future with regard to the plains of Baghdad."
Abdul-Zahra pointed out that "the Iraqi banks and Professor Nasir Shamma take responsibility for this issue where will not cost the construction of squares, the Iraqi state any amount." "The delay was due to the study of the project and the designs presented, as there are known architects working to provide more than a model of the squares," Abdel-Zahra said.
"There are designs that have been agreed upon and will be implemented, such as Al-Fardous Square, formerly known as the Unknown Soldier. The modern design is similar to the previous one," Abdel-Zahra said.
"There is a woman in the form of a fountain and the water will be brought to the monument of the supposed unknown soldier, which will be a wonderful painting presented by one of the important architects."
He noted that "immediately after the completion of the designs of any yard, the work will be quickly," noting that "the Secretariat of the capital contributed significantly to the creation of designs."
"Everyone is waiting for the wrong results because, like what is known, these squares are important for the beauty of the capital Baghdad and showing them wonderfully is required especially after reconstruction."
In April 2017, under the chairmanship of musician Naseer Shamma, the Baghdad-based committee debated the development of 20 theaters in the capital Baghdad within a maximum of 240 days.
The meeting was attended by Naseer Shamma, representatives of the Prime Minister's Office, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Central Bank, the Secretariat of Baghdad, the NGO Department, the Baghdad Operations Command, the Makiya Foundation and the Association of Banks.
The statement pointed out that the committee discussed the mechanism of work projects (Alq Baghdad), which was designed through the most important consulting offices for the development of 20 yards in the capital Baghdad within a period of maximum 240 days, "noting that" identified the committees that conduct the bidding and analysis and agreement with the consulting company, which oversees all The squares during the third of next May. " May 11 was the deadline for bids and bids from executing companies.
