Security Council describes Pyongyang's launch of missile over Japan as "outrageous threat"

30/08/2017

The United Nations Security Council unanimously condemned the North Korean missile test after Pyongyang fired a ballistic missile over Japan on Tuesday, calling it a disgraceful threat.

In a statement, the council called on Pyongyang to stop firing more missiles and abandoning its nuclear weapons and programs. The statement also called on all member states to strictly implement UN resolutions.
The council stressed its commitment to a peaceful, diplomatic and political solution, but the Washington-drafted statement unanimously approved does not threaten to impose new sanctions on North Korea. sf
