    The Supreme Assembly of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) on Saturday elected Hammam Hammoudi as the successor to his chief Ammar al-Hakim, who formed the wisdom movement last month. 
    The General Assembly of the Supreme Council held yesterday its first meeting in the city of Najaf after the recent schism. The General Conference held the slogan (correction), and participated dozens of the leadership of the offices of the provinces and representatives of the Council outside the country.

    The Supreme Council was established in Iran in 1982 during the Iran-Iraq war. Ammar al-Hakim assumed the presidency of the Supreme Council since 2009, succeeding his father Abdul Aziz al-Hakim. 
    Earlier in the day, the General Assembly of the Supreme Council voted to nominate two deputies of the General Assembly of the Council as well as vote on amendments to the rules of procedure. 
    "During the 12th session, the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council - the General Assembly - was elected to vote on the election of Zeinab al-Gharbani as the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of the Supreme Council and Hazim Watan as second deputy," the statement said. .
    The Supreme Council "was voted on the selection of Jabbar al-Lami as a decision of the General Assembly of the Council as well as vote on amendments to the rules of procedure of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq."
