Nikkei rises to its highest level in a month

Japanese stocks rose to a one-month closing high on Tuesday, with financial firms leading the gains in most sectors after Wall Street rose Monday night.
The Nikkei <.N225> was up 1.2 percent at 7,776.62, the highest close since Aug. 8. The performance of financial market shares was similar to that of the United States.
The S & P 500 rose more than 1 percent to a record closing on Monday after hurricane Erma caused losses below expectations and after North Korea did not test a missile or nuclear test over the weekend.
Insurance companies, brokerage firms and banks posted the biggest gains, up 3.1 percent and 1.5 percent respectively.
The broader Topix index was up 0.9 percent at 1,627.45 points and 32 of the 33 index indexes rose. Ending / 25
