WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump said he had a strong feeling that the conflict between Qatar and the Arab states boycotting it would find "a way to solve it soon."
"We are now in a situation where we are trying to solve a problem in the Middle East," Trump said during a meeting with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. I think we will solve it and I have a strong feeling that it will find its way to a solution very quickly. "
"As President Trump said, we have a problem with our neighbors and we hope to find a solution to this crisis," he said.
On June 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt announced their severing ties with Qatar, accusing them of supporting terrorism, which Doha denies.
The Emir of Qatar had addressed the General Assembly and renewed his call for "unconditional dialogue" to end the political crisis with the boycotting states.
