    A Syrian army colonel confirmed that opposition gunmen were still engaged in a secret war in the capital, Damascus, by using a complex network of tunnels on the outskirts of the city, particularly in Ein Tirma and Joubar.

    The Syrian Brigadier pointed out that these fortified tunnels give the militants of the Front Nasra, the ability to move secretly between the neighborhoods of the city, and to fire at the positions of government forces and the sites of the opposition gunmen at the same time, to force both parties to violate the cease-fire.
    "Some of the tunnels used by the gunmen are 50 kilometers long. Military units of the size of an entire battalion can move inside, and there are places to store ammunition and relax. They are also equipped with fortified, protected and invisible firing points," he said.
    The Syrian military revealed that "the local population, they warn the army units and guide them to the nozzles and exits of such tunnels camouflaged well," pointing to the discovery of many of these similar tunnels in the city of Aleppo, and the town of Aqrabat east of Hama.
    "The destruction of these tunnels was only after the use of the Russian air force, which used drone-guided aircraft to bombard and destroy them by powerful and high-explosive bombs piercing the fortifications."
