    US crude oil inventories fell more-than-expected last week as imports plummeted while gasoline stocks rose, the US Petroleum Institute said on Wednesday.
     
    Crude inventories fell by 4.1 million barrels in the week ending Sept. 29 to 465.4 million barrels, while analysts had forecast a 756,000 bpd drop.
     
    Oil inventories at the Cushing's Futures Delivery Center in the state of Oklahoma increased by 2.1 million barrels, according to API data.
     
    Crude oil consumption fell by 75,000 bpd, gasoline inventories jumped 4.9 million barrels, while analysts forecast a 1.1 million barrel increase.
     
    Inventories of distillates, including diesel and heating oil, fell 584,000 barrels, while 1.8 million barrels were expected to fall, the institute said.
     
    US crude oil imports last week fell 348,000 barrels to 7.4 million bpd.
