The South Korean government announced on Saturday that it was raising its "extreme" readiness for what it called "possible provocations" for North Korea.
"Seoul is closely monitoring the activities of its northern neighbors because of possible provocations on Sunday, on the anniversary of the founding of the ruling party in Pyongyang," South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted a presidential official as saying.
"If the north wants another provocation, South Korea will respond strongly, but we have not monitored any activities so far," the official said.
