Parliament plans to extend to the Commission in the event of failing to pass the candidates of the Committee of Experts

     Baghdad / Mohammed Sabah

Boycotted a number of parliamentary blocs meeting called by the Presidency of the House of Representatives to discuss the vote on the candidates of the Council of the new Electoral Commission. The boycott came in protest of some blocks on the visit of Salim al-Jubouri to the city of Erbil last week.
Despite these differences will be included in the voting on the results of the Parliamentary Committee of Experts in the session next Wednesday, and in case of resorting to the opposition blocs to break the quorum will be forced to offer the Parliament to extend the work of the Electoral Commission to vote.
The deputy for the coalition of state law Ahmed Sheikh Taha, in a statement to the "range" yesterday, "The proposal of candidates of the Council of the elections coincided with the crisis of the referendum in the Kurdistan region, which affected the lack of attendance of Kurdish MPs in the meetings of the House of Representatives," noting that " In front of two options, the first vote on the decisions of the Committee of Parliamentary Experts or extend the work of the current Electoral Commission. "
The House of Representatives was unable to pass the candidates of the Committee of Experts parliamentary, in a meeting last Monday, following the withdrawal of most of the parliamentary blocs of the session, which forced the Presidency of Parliament to lift the meeting to this week. Calling the heads of blocs to a meeting to discuss the problem of voting on the members of the new Electoral Commission.
Sheikh Taha revealed a meeting convened by the heads of blocs at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Monday to discuss the problem of voting on the members of the Electoral Commission, noting that some heads of blocs boycotted the meeting in protest against them to visit the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the city of Erbil.
During several sessions, the House of Representatives tried to pass the names nominated by the Committee of parliamentary experts, but he met strong opposition by more than seventy deputies armed with the weapon of withdrawal from the sessions of the Council and break the quorum of the sessions, which included a vote on the members of the Electoral Commission.
The United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) has distanced itself from the work of the Committee of Parliamentary Experts and party options, and denied that it has recommended the selection of candidates for the Electoral Commission of the Electoral Commission, stressing that it did not recommend the selection of persons with affiliations or links to the membership of the Board of Commissioners.
The member of the Committee of Experts that "the meeting, which was attended by some of the heads of parliamentary blocs and the presidency of Parliament was unable to take appropriate decisions after the boycott by the heads of some blocks."
Sheikh Taha confirmed that "the House of Representatives will pass candidates to the Council of the Electoral Commission in the meeting next Wednesday after parliamentary blocs held several series of meetings in which they agreed to vote," expected the participation of the PUK and the Change and the Islamic Group in the next meeting.
The opposition MPs are trying to gain time and exploit the absence of Kurdish blocs from the meetings of the Council of Representatives to break the quorum of any session including voting on the candidates of the Committee of Experts, forcing the large blocs to negotiate
    with them.
For his part, confirms the member of the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives Hassan Shammari that "the paragraph vote on the results of the Committee of Experts will be on the agenda of the meeting of the Council of Representatives next," expected "to hold a meeting of heads of blocs with the Presidency of Parliament before the meeting."
MP Shammari said in an interview with Al-Mada that "the parliamentary blocs are unable so far to provide a full quorum to pass the names of candidates for the Electoral Commission because of differences within the same bloc about the candidates and the mechanism adopted to vote on them."
The member of the Virtue bloc that "there are many intersections by different political blocs, some of them related to the selection of commissioners on the basis of quotas and other blocs still strongly calls for the assignment of a number of judges to manage the electoral process," noting that "there are attempts by some to return the proposal of the judges again In the House of Representatives. "
The House of Representatives has received a letter from the Electoral Commission demanding the extension of its work after the end of its mandate in the month of September until the agreement of the heads of blocs on the new candidates and vote by Parliament.
MP Hassan al-Shammari said that "the current election commission is suspended after the end of its mandate and can not do any work," stressing that "this stop will affect the process of the elections, which need to ratify the formation of entities and other matters."
