    Baghdad - Agencies
The United States has imposed sanctions on a senior government official and North Korean military commanders, in particular the military security command, the Treasury Department said.
The sanctions included a group of senior military security command officers as well as some members of the government.
In addition to the list, the sanctions included the names of seven senior North Korean officials, including the Deputy Minister of Labor, the Director of the Foreign Construction Bureau, the North Korean Consul General in China's Xinyan Province and the First Deputy Minister of Public Security.
According to information available from open sources, North Korea's military security command oversees the affairs of the country's leader Kim Jong-un and senior officials of the state and the ruling party during their visits to the armed forces. It also monitors the activities of officers and army commanders and works to identify opponents of the party and the state there.
