Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, received in his office in Baghdad on Saturday, a delegation representing the Saadoun Tribes of the southern Iraq.

A statement received by IraqiNews.com cited “Nijaifi discussed with the delegation the latest developments that took place in the southern part of Iraq, including the attacks against the Saadoun Tribes by terrorist groups that aim at creating sectarian sedition through displacing these tribes from the southern parts of Iraq.”

The statement added “NIjaifi expressed his rejection for any process of displacement for any community or sect for any reason,” noting that “The government and security departments should take the responsibility of protecting the tribes of Saadoun.”

The statement added “Members of the delegation appreciated the role of the southern tribes for their honorable stance towards the Saadoun Tribes emphasizing the strong ties among the Iraqi tribes.”
