Trump accuses Iran of firing rockets from Yemen into Saudi Arabia
Follow-up / Sky Press:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump blamed Iran for the rockets fired by the Houthis and the Yemeni army against Saudi Arabia and said he considered Iran guilty of rocket attacks from Yemen toward the kingdom.
"In my opinion, Iran has launched an attack against Saudi Arabia, and as you know it, you did not see how the missile was launched and how our counter-regime reacted," Trump told reporters accompanying him aboard the presidential plane on his way to Tokyo last night.
The Saudi air defenses announced last night that they had destroyed a ballistic missile in northeastern Riyadh, which was launched from Yemeni territory.
The military-political conflict in Yemen has been going on since 2014. The United Nations has failed to put an end to it and bring peace to the country, which is suffering from cholera and the scourge of war.
The conflict in Yemen is shared by the Huthis and the Yemeni army loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, on the one hand, and government forces and militias loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, backed by the forces and planes of the Saudi-led Arab alliance.
