The United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT) announced on Sunday the adoption by the Iraqi Council of Ministers of housing policy and its executive plan of action, and called upon the ministries and concerned parties to take the necessary measures to ensure adequate housing for Iraqi citizens.
The new Housing Policy was developed through technical support to the United Nations Human Settlements Program (Habitat), which is provided to the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works and other relevant ministries.
"Through the meeting between Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program, Dr. Aissa Kasira Kirabo, with the Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works Dr. Ann Nafie Aussi in Baghdad, Kirabo congratulations to the Iraqi government on the document to update the housing policy. "
"The Habitat will continue to make every effort to ensure that its ongoing contributions and support have tangible impact and results on the ground to create a change in the lives of the vulnerable in Iraq," Kirabo said.
"We are confident that the launch of the new housing policy will help provide a useful scientific tool to complement the major efforts of the Iraqi government in reconstruction and development," she said.
"The meeting and the adoption of the housing policy update coincide with the liberation of most of the areas formerly controlled by a supportive organization and with the challenges to reconstruction of the affected areas. It is timely to discuss the future role of the hippies in enhancing their contribution to support the government's efforts to restore," said Anne Nafie Aoussi. Reconstruction and to make Iraqi cities more comprehensive, secure, sustainable and resilient. "
The United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT) has worked in collaboration with ministries and local authorities responsible for assessing and identifying housing policy interrelationship with various national plans and strategies and identifying difficulties and obstacles faced by different institutions in the implementation of these policies and recommendations on monitoring and implementation. C
