The return of regular air traffic between Cairo and Moscow will boost the Egyptian tourism sector, the British newspaper The Times reported.

The return of Russian tourists will be a major boost to Egypt's tourism industry, which suffered turmoil following the Arab Spring events in 2011, the British newspaper reported Saturday.

The Russian Transport Minister expected the resumption of the first regular flights between Moscow and Cairo in the first half of February 2018.

The Times pointed out that Russia is scheduled to resume flights to Egypt, which was suspended in 2015, after gunmen from the Islamic State Organization blew up a Russian passenger plane, killing 224 people were on board.

The British newspaper cited Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov as saying that officials could sign security protocols to allow civil flights to resume early tomorrow.

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Sharif Fathi, went yesterday to Moscow at the head of a delegation to sign the security protocol between the two countries with the Minister of Transport, "Maxim Sokolov," in preparation for the return of air traffic between Cairo and Moscow in late February.

Official sources said earlier that the monthly losses suffered by Egypt because of the Russian plane estimated at 3.2 billion pounds a month direct and indirect losses .
