Turkish Prime Minister Ben Ali Yildirim said Wednesday that Turkey and Saudi Arabia are pivotal to long-term peace and stability in the region.

This came in a press statement made by Yildirim from the Saudi capital Riyadh, which arrived yesterday, on an official visit.

"Their joint action (Turkey and Saudi Arabia) is a necessity for global and regional peace, not just for them," Yildirim said.

He pointed out that during his meetings with Saudi officials he discussed issues such as further development of bilateral trade between the two countries and the implementation of joint projects in the field of defense industries.

"I can say that our views are 90 percent identical on issues (the region) and ways to solve them," he said. Yildirim arrived in Riyadh on an official visit to Saudi Arabia where he met with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
