US President Donald Trump said former White House adviser Steve Bannon lost his mind after he was sacked
Trump's comments came after he was quoted in a new book called a meeting between the Russians and the son of Trump betrayal, according to the BBC.
"The Russians presented Trump's son with information that destroys the efforts of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton," Bannon said in the forthcoming book.
"Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my presidency," Trump said in a press statement. "When he was fired, he did not just lose his job, but lost his mind too."
"Steve started working with me after I had already won the Republican nomination, ahead of 17 competitors," Trump said.
"Steve is learning that success is not as easy as I make it, and he has no part in the historic success of the men and women forgotten in this nation," he said.
Mr Pannon has stepped down from the job at PRIBERT NEWS to lead the Trump campaign in the presidential election.
In April 2017, he was sacked as chief strategist at the White House.
