[rtl]WASHINGTON (Reuters ) - The Senate majority leader called for a vote Monday on the re-opening of the US government after it entered the third day of partial closure.[/rtl]
    [rtl]
The leader of the Senate Majority Party, Senator Mitch McConnell, vowed on Sunday to take legislation to tackle the immigration program so he could attract as many Democrats as possible to vote for the spending bill.

"Let's get back from the brink and stop hurting the American people and going back to work on their behalf," McConnell said.

Legislators failed to negotiate an end to the government closure on Sunday, continuing the closure that began on Saturday after the Senate failed to reach agreement on short-term financing.

For his part, US President Donald Trump, through a tweet on the social networking site "Twitter", to use the vote by a majority of 51%, or vote on a long-term budget, if the Democrats continue to insist on their position.

"It's wonderful to see how the Republicans are fighting for our military and security forces on the border. Democrats just want illegal immigrants to enter our country without restrictions."
