The US Senate is in the face of Trump's plans to withdraw from Syria and Afghanistan
The vast majority in the US Senate supported the amendment by Sen. Mitch McConnell , who defies President Donald Trump's plans to withdraw from Syria and Afghanistan .
During the vote on Monday, the amendment to the US policy law in the Middle East won the support of 70 members of the council against opposition 26.
Republicans form the majority in the Senate (53 out of 100 seats), and only three voted against the amendment.
The amendment "expresses the feeling of the Senate that the United States is currently facing threats from terrorist groups operating in Syria and Afghanistan, and that a hasty withdrawal of the United States can jeopardize the progress made, and national security at risk."
Senator McConnell, the presiding judge, says the bill allows council members to record their views on what Washington should do in Syria and Afghanistan.
He pointed out that the amendment provides that the organization is calling and al-Qaeda has not yet been defeated, and that they remain a serious threat to the United States and is contrary to Trump's comments on this matter.
Last December, Trump announced the decision to withdraw his country's 2,000 troops from Syria after "defeating a field advocate" there.
