    [rtl]Under the so-called "Countering America's Enemies Act", the State Department announced that "the United States began imposing sanctions on Russia as of January 29.[/rtl]
    [rtl]In a statement on Tuesday, the foreign ministry said "the new sanctions may affect companies in other countries dealing with the Russian defense and intelligence sector," adding that "in general, if imposed sanctions, it will affect companies outside Russia responsible for large deals with the sectors Russian defense and intelligence"He said.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The State Department warned that the United States had warned governments and companies in countries doing business with Russia about the possibility of sanctions against them.
