"The oil production capacity of the joint fields with Iraq has increased according to the planned plan, and the production capacity of oil in the fields with Iraq to the west of the Karun River is more than 300,000 barrels per day," the executive director of Iran's oil and gas development company, Noureddine Shehanizadeh, said in a press statement.
"Production capacity will rise to 350,000 by the end of the current Iranian year (ending on March 20)," he said.
He added: "The project for the construction of pipeline and facilities related to the transfer of crude oil from the fields of West Karoun, is now on the occasion of the official launch," noting that "this project allows the transfer of light crude and heavy oil separately to the export terminals."
"This project provides the possibility of transporting 550 thousand barrels of light and heavy crude oil per day as a first stage, increasing to more than one million barrels in the second phase."
