US Secretary of Commerce excludes significant effects of Trump tariffs on prices

The United States plans to impose protectionist tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, raising fears of a trade war between countries. The US president said winning such a war would be easy .
"The new tariffs will have a broad but slight impact on prices," Ross said in a television interview with CNBC on Friday, adding that the president's announcement yesterday was a broad concept.
The US Commerce Secretary tried to explain his view on what he calls a small increase in prices, through a small package for an American product.
He explained that the steel used in this packaging cost 2.6 pence, and if the price of steel increased by 25%, the increase in the price will be only six tenths of a penny on the price of the product package.
"The US steel industry is important for national security and the current influx of imports has a negative impact on the steel industry," he said.
He noted that it was not the first time that the United States imposed fees on different types of steel.
