The speaker of parliament Salim al-Jubouri on Thursday called on Turkey to help Iraq build its cities free from terrorism to ensure the return of displaced people.
Al-Jubouri said in a statement to the News Agency that the latter met with Turkish Parliament Speaker Ismael Kahraman. The meeting discussed the political and security situation in Iraq and the region and means of boosting bilateral cooperation at all levels.
"Iraq is looking forward to the participation of all friendly countries, including Turkey, in various files, especially the reconstruction of its cities liberated from terrorism and rehabilitation to ensure the return of displaced people," Jubouri said, adding that "the region faces great challenges that require concerted effort and coordination to eliminate terrorism and end Extremist ideology that has affected the security and stability of many countries, "the statement said.
He also stressed the importance of expanding the framework of joint coordination between Iraqi and Turkish parliamentarians by exchanging expertise and developing skills and creating opportunities through which to achieve the interests of the two neighboring peoples.
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi parliament speaker Salim al-Jubouri arrived today in Turkey for a short visit, which lasts for one day.
