Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi discussed on Thursday with OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo the importance of preserving the stability of the region and Iraq's role in the Organization.
"The Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi received at a Baghdad library today OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo and his accompanying delegation," Ebadi's office said in a statement.
The statement added that "the two sides discussed the future vision of the OPEC countries on oil and the importance of maintaining the stability of the region, in addition to Iraq's role in the Organization."
For his part, OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo blessed the Iraqi victories and the liberation of the entire territory.
"The whole world owes Iraq thanks for its defeat of the terrorist gangs," Barkindo said. "Iraq has contributed to stability in the region and has had a positive impact on OPEC countries."
"The role of Iraq was great in the agreement that was made in OPEC, which contributed to the current stability of the price of oil," Barkindo praised the "economic program pursued by the government of Abadi and the importance of continuing this approach, which will revive Iraq economically."
