British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson said his government should take measures to strengthen defense capabilities to counter what he called the "growing Russian threat."
"Putin is using growing hybrid capabilities to carry out acts of destruction, to spread his influence in countries around the world," the minister said in an article published Sunday Telegraf.
"To defend Great Britain, it is very important to continue to develop our defenses to counter these threats, to ensure the security of our country and to defend the freedoms we have reached with difficulty and to maintain our daily lives."
Britain, accused Russia of involvement in the poisoning of former British agent Sergey Scrippal, and claimed that the material used in the attack was developed in Russia.
Russia categorically denied all these accusations, asserting that neither in the Soviet Union nor Russia had any programs to produce the material that Scrippel had allegedly attacked in London.
