The Minister of Immigration Jassem Mohammed Al-Jaf stressed on Tuesday the importance of cooperation and coordination with the International Committee on Missing Persons to help families that lost some of their families. He pointed out that the ministry does not have a database to prepare missing persons.
"The Minister discussed the proposal of the International Committee on Missing Persons to form a committee from the Ministry of Displacement and Migration, other government agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross," the Ministry of Immigration said in a statement received by the Journal News. For missing persons to create their own database. "
"The ministry looks forward to cooperation and coordination with the International Committee for Missing Persons to help displaced and returning families who lost some of their family members in the past period and find the necessary services and rights for them," the minister said.
He pointed out that "the ministry does not have a database of the numbers of missing persons displaced because of the difficulty of counting these numbers and the large number of IDP camps and prepare them, which need a joint effort of the concerned authorities to count them."
"The ministry is ready to work with the mission to follow up the missing persons from the displaced and returnees to their liberated areas," he said. "The ministry is one of the government agencies that have continuous contact with the displaced."
For her part, the head of the mission of the International Committee on Missing Persons, "the readiness of the Committee for cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Immigration and other ministries to support this file."
Hundreds of Iraqis are registered as missing and their fate is unknown, in the wake of the "invasion" of many areas of Iraq in June 2014, where their families are required to reveal their fate after the defeat of the terrorist organization.
