[ltr]Speaker of the Parliament Salim al-Jubouri on Thursday that the parliament has the right to hold an extraordinary session before and after the elections to assess the work of the Commission, while noting the presence of 20 requests to lift the immunity of deputies.[/ltr]
[ltr]Jubouri said in a press conference held in the parliament building and attended by "Mawazin News /" that "until June 30 next we can hold a special session to discuss the special electoral process, and may be one day after the elections scheduled for May 12 next," noting that "the meeting will be devoted to discuss Violations that may occur during the elections. "[/ltr]
[ltr]He warned Jubouri of "interference in the work of the Electoral Commission from any political or partisan," calling on the Commission to "not allow any party to interfere in its work."[/ltr]
[ltr]Jubouri added: "We reject the use of parliament to promote the election and we will hold accountable those who did so," noting that "the House of Representatives approved about 200 laws during the current session and grant all powers to the government."[/ltr]

[ltr]Al-Jubouri called on the deputies, who were named by the Judicial Council, to "follow up their cases," stressing that "the existence of 20 requests to lift the immunity of parliamentarians and parliament will use its powers to raise them until they prove the safety of their position."[/ltr]
